Pakistan to Host the 26th Council Meeting of SATRC in 2025

Dhaka (06 October, 2023): The 24th Meeting of the South Asian Telecommunication Regulators’ Council  (SATRC-24) drew to a close, following three days of discussions in Dhaka, Bangladesh.

The conference culminated with the adoption of comprehensive SATRC Action Plan Phase IX to catalyze growth in the telecommunications sector through expansion of 5G technology, strengthening broadband connectivity, and fostering increased knowledge exchange and cooperation among member countries.

Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) was acknowledged and commended for its role in leading the Working Group on Policy, Regulation, and Services (WG PRS). As a testament to PTA’s efforts, the Council has opted to retain PTA as the chair of WG PRS. It was also decided to hold the 26th Council Meeting of SATRC in 2025 in Pakistan.

Moreover, SATRC's Working Group on Policy and Regulations and the Working Group on Spectrum and Capacity Building adopted pivotal work items during the conference, which will be worked upon over the course of next two years.

The meeting boasted active participation by heads of telecommunication regulatory bodies of SATRC Member countries and designated senior level officers. The SATRC Member countries are Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Islamic Republic of Iran, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
