Two Illegal Gateway Exchanges Raided in Islamabad and Faisalabad

(Islamabad: 20th September, 2019):  Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in its ongoing efforts to curb the menace of illegal grey trafficking, carried out two more successful raids in coordination with Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) at Islamabad and Faisalabad.

First raid was conducted in Islamabad at Trade Center, F-11-Markaz by PTA Zonal Office, Rawalpindi where one laptop, an internet device and one internet to PSTN gateway with 20 operational land line numbers were recovered. Owner of the setup was arrested from the scene.

Second successful raid against gray trafficker was conducted at Faisalabad by PTA Zonal Office, Lahore along with FIA. The raid was conducted in the suburb area of Faisalabad i.e. Sunta Chack no. 229 RB. Three Gateways, 332ports x 03, three TP Link Routers, three internet devices, one internet USB, 140 SIMs were confiscated. One person namely Mr. Abid Hussain was arrested on the spot and is being investigated. Another raid was also conducted at Faisalabad on Thursday.

The successful raids against the grey operators were made possible because of continuous monitoring, commitment and persistent efforts by PTA and with the help FIA in curbing the menace of grey traffic.
