Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) is holding a three-day workshop on â??Implementing Mobile Number Portability (MNP)â? from August 22-24, 2007 at Islamabad under the aegis of recently established ITU Centre of Excellence (CoE) Node at PTA.

A highly specialized program has been designed for this Workshop and eminent local as well as foreign experts having hands-on experience on MNP implementation process will share their experiences with the participants.

It may be mentioned that Pakistan is among the few countries which have successfully implemented the MNP and participants of the Workshop from different countries would be benefited from its experience.

This is the second Workshop being organized under the ITU-ASP CoE Network PTA Node. Earlier, a workshop was held from July 23-27 with the objective to impart training to the potential instructors on methodology to design and conduct online courses. The third Workshop will be held in December on â??Interconnectionâ? in Islamabad.

It may also be mentioned that in June 2007, International Telecom Union (ITU) had established its Centre of Excellence (CoE) Node on Telecommunication Policy & Regulations in Pakistan at PTA HQs through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) which was signed at ITU Headquarters in Geneva.

CoE Node, established in Pakistan, will offer various training courses each year in collaboration with ITU on issues related to Telecom Policy & Regulations.
