International Workshop on Advanced Spectrum Management for Mobile Telecommunications

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) and GSMA in collaboration with Central Asian Cellular Forum (CACF) organized a two day ‘International Workshop on Advanced Spectrum Management for Mobile Telecommunications” at PTA Headquarters, Islamabad. The training was attended by representatives from MoIT, USF, IGNITE, and PTA.

The training sessions were conducted by Mr. Cristian Gomez, Director Spectrum Policy & Regulatory Affairs GSMA. The sessions focused on national Spectrum management, spectrum harmonization, competition and Spectrum policy considerations, Internet of Things, maximizing the benefits of the release of the Digital Dividend for society, Spectrum and infrastructure sharing, and the increasing importance of Wi-Fi for mobile.

Speaking on the occasion, Ms. Sarah Gaffney, Director Partnerships GSMA gave an overview of the workshop and said that the training shall enable participants in learning about best practices regarding Spectrum management.

Furthermore, Mr. Imad Memon, Director General (Licensing) PTA, said that the training proved to be a valuable experience, one which addressed current and future Spectrum management challenges.
