Illegal Network of Gateway Exchanges Busted in Peshawar

Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) in collaboration with FIA launched crack down on a network of illegal gateway exchanges in Hyatabad, Peshawar and arrested one person. The illegal facility consisted of nine GSM gateways with 56 SIMs. The accused was terminating international telecom traffic from three different foreign companies.

Chairman PTA, Dr. Mohammed Yaseen warned all those involved in the illegal telecom business to stop their activities otherwise PTA shall take strict action against them as per the law. He said that loss to the national exchequer through illegal telecom business shall be prevented at all costs.

He said that PTA is after the grey traffickers since long and for the purpose it has established a team of highly technical professionals and dedicated workers. The team works on twenty four hours basis and adopts different procedures and processes to apprehend the culprits.
