Islamabad: (5^th July, 2022) Apropos news item in a section of media which stated that PTA has rejected the tariff relaxation request by the operators. It is stated for the sake of clarification that the news is misleading and out of context. It is clarified that PTA only regulates tariff for the dominant mobile operator in Pakistan i.e. PMCL (Jazz), whereas, rest of the operators are free to set their tariffs as per their commercial considerations.

Furthermore, PTA has already clarified that operators cannot start load-shedding of mobile phone services on the pretext of increasing cost or extended spans of electricity load-shedding, as mobile operators are required to provide telecom services in accordance with their license conditions and Quality of Service Regulations issued by PTA.  PTA clarification is available at https://www.pta.gov.pk
