Islamabad: (February 11, 2009) Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) has decided to form a Focal Group for Mobile Banking with representatives of mobile companies and banking sector on it.

This decision was taken in a meeting held at PTA Headquarters today. Senior Executives of mobile operators, banks and PTA attended the meeting. MCB made presentation on Mobile Banking in Pakistan. Different mobile banking models were discussed during the meeting.

Chairman PTA Dr Mohammed Yaseen said on this occasion that Mobile Banking is a value addition and has utmost consumer convenience wherein users can avail banking facilities through mobile communication.

He said that already two conferences on Mobile Banking have been held and another would held in Karachi in March, 2009. He said that PTA will form a Focal Group on Mobile Banking which would work as a bridge between mobile companies and banks. He said PTA would facilitate all stake holders in this regard.
