During
2005-06 total telecom revenue was Rs 192.6 billion.

Share
of telecom sector alone in GDP increased from 1.8% to 2.0%.

FDI
in telecom sector amounted to US$ 1905.1 million making it 54.1% of the total
FDI in the country.

During
2005-06, telecom sector contributed Rs. 77.1 billion in the national exchequer
in terms of taxes and regulatory fee. GST/CED collection during the period
reached Rs. 26.7 billion.

During
the year, almost 183,063 additional direct & indirect jobs were created in
the telecom sector.

Total
Teledensity of Pakistan reached 26.19% in June 2006.

Total
number of mobile subscribers in Pakistan reached 36.77 million by end of June
2006 bringing mobile density to 22.16% crossing fixed line teledensity which is
3.37%.

LDI
tariffs reduced as low as Rs 0.99 per minute and NWD call is available at Rs
0.52 per minute.

During
the year, LDIâ??s revenues increased by 168%.

WLL
subscribers in Pakistan reached 1.02 million showing growth rate of more than
287%.

Internet
service is available in more the 2389 Cities and towns in Pakistan, facilitating
12 million users.

out of 28 Districts of Balochistan covered with mobile or wireless networks.

PTA
provided consultancy and assistance to other countries like Uganda, Bangladesh,
Bhutan and Oman.

Telecommunication
Development Bureau of the ITU awarded G-Rex award.

The
Authority developed defined standards of service and plans to enforce them
against the offered quality of service whenever required.

International
Mobile Equipment Identity (IMEI) blocking system to stop Mobile handset theft.

The
Authority finally reduced the Mobile Termination Rates (MTR) from Rs 1.60/minute
to Rs 1.25/minute from 1st July 2006 to 30th June 2007.

PTA
carried out 1,421 Commencement Inspections, 3 Surveys, 11,689 Inspections and
Resolved 141,141 Complaints.

The
Authority issued Determination against number of telecom companies during the
year for violation of license conditions.

PTA
contributed Rs 200 million to the Presidentâ??s Earthquake relief fund.
