Islamabad:
A four member delegation of Communications Commission of Kenya (CCK) met
Chairman Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) Major Gen �® Shahzada Alam
Malik here today. During the
meeting, matters relating to mutual interest came under discussion. Both the
sides exchanged views on matters pertaining to the field of Telecommunications
and Regulatory affairs.
Chairman
PTA briefed the Kenyan Delegation about the fast paced growth being witnessed in
the telecommunication sector in Pakistan. He informed them that due to investor-
friendly policies of the Government of Pakistan and fair regulatory regime
adopted by the countryâ??s telecom Regulator, Pakistanâ??s telecom sector has
been able to achieve unprecedented growth in recent years. He also apprised them
in detail about the implementation process of the Telecom Deregulation Policy
through the award of various new telecom licenses.
The
members of the Kenyan delegation comprising of senior members of the Kenyan
Communications Commission showed keen interest in the Pakistanâ??s Telecom
model. Lauding the Telecom liberalization policies of the Pakistan Government,
the Kenyan Delegation noted that swift development in the telecom sector
particularly in the cellular mobile sector of Pakistan has drawn deep
appreciation from the global telecom community.
The
Kenya delegation is on a 4 day study visit to PTA Headquarters. Their visit is
part of a series of visits from members of various Regulatory bodies to PTA with
an aim of exchanging views on related matters as well as enhancing cooperation
in the field of Telecommunications and ICT.
