Q1. What is an Expert Group Forum?

Ans.
An Expert group forum is a medium to gather practitioners, academia, researchers and policy makers to share their knowledge and experience and discuss new trends and their challenges, as well as numerous other issues affecting the IT and Telecommunications industry in Pakistan. The main aim is to provide a platform to congregate opinions and recommendations on technocal, financial, legal and policy realated issues. Individuals in this group will come together regardless of their rank or position and will be treated strictly on a equal and professional ground.


Q2. What is the Objective of setting up an Expert Group Forum?

Ans.
The overall objective of this group is to enhance development of emerging IT and telecommunications technology. Its purpose is to enable a frequent exchange of views on competitiveness and knowledge building for the industry in Pakistan, and to act as an instrument to accelerate the two-way flow of information between the industry and the Government.


Q3. Who can participate in the Expert Group Forum?

Ans.
Participation will be on a voluntary basis. Representatives of academia, operators, manufacturers, consultancy firms, respective ministries and organizations from the field of IT , telecom, law, regulations, finance and any other individual or group with a vested interest are all free to participate in the forum.


Q4. How and when will the Expert Group Meet?

Ans.
Meetings will be held on a Quarterly basis to visit the status of running projects and to deliberate and discuss the future activities of the forum. This may also include the induction of a new study subject. However, PTA will have the discretion to call a meeting of the Forum when appropriate. Schedule of the meeting will be communicated in ample time i.e. 2 months in advance, in order to ensure attendance of all participants.
