Islamabad: Pakistan Telecommunication Authority
(PTA) has announced the results of recently conducted Wireless Local Loop (WLL)
operators Quality of Service (QoS) survey conducted in eight major cities across
the country. The implementation of limited mobility by WLL operators was aslo
checked.
The QoS Survey was conducted in 8 major cities
including Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi/Islamabad, Peshawar, Quetta, Multan,
Faisalabad and Hyderabad to gauge the quality of WLL service. The Limited
Mobility aspect of WLL service was also surveyed as per PTA??¢??s Determination on
Limited Mobility. The survey commenced from September 15-25, 2006 by all PTA
Zonal Offices, simultaneously.
The operators checked include PTCL-V, Telecard (Go
CDMA), Great Bear and World Call. Survey was conducted within the network of
the operators and with other networks that included PTCL, Mobile Operators and
all other WLL.
Results of service accessibility within network show
that M/s.V PTCL was 98.33%, M/s.Telecard (Go CDMA) was 74.52, M/s.World Call was
87.08% and M/s.Dialog (Great Bear) was 90.00%. Similarly, with other networks M/s.V
PTCL showed 87.92% results while M/s.Telecard (Go CDMA) was 81.14%, M/s.World
Call was 82.12 and M/s.Dialog (Great Bear) was 96.00.
V PTCL is operational in 8 cities which are
Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Peshawar
and Quetta. Telecard (Go CDMA) operational in 7 cities including Rawalpindi/Islamabad,
Faisalabad, Multan, Karachi, Hyderabad, Peshawar and Quetta. World Call
operational in 4 cities which are Lahore, Faisalabad, Multan and Peshawar.
Dialog (Great Bear) operational in only Rawalpindi/Islamabad.
It was also observed in the survey that WLL
operators are not strictly following the determination on limited mobility.
Therefore, they have been asked to take immediate action to implement the same
and submit a compliance report to PTA by 15 December 2006.
